WHY CAN'T I IMPORT DATA FROM WEB ON EXCEL (WEB APP/SERVICE)

Microsoft Apps & Services

I'm sure you know Microsoft but the question is how well do you know Microsoft? You'd be amazed about the number of Apps and Services you ain't taking advantage of (really!)

Microsoft 365 (which includes Office Apps; Word, Excel, Powerpoint...) can be categorized into;

  • Microsoft/Office Desktop (the one you install on your PC)
  • Microsoft/Office Web App/Services (when you use it via your browser)

Is the above clear? as it will help you continue.

There are some features that aren't available yet on the web version (Microsoft/Office services/Web App), meaning you can only access them when you download and install Microsoft packages (say Excel) on your PC, unfortunately, the "import from web" is one of them.

You may checkout Microsoft documentation to figure out the differences between the WEB (version) of EXCEL and the DESKTOP (version) here;

  1.  Open/Click "Start Menu" and search "firewall"
  2.  Select "Window Defender Firewall"

HOW TO PARTITION YOUR HARD DRIVE/DISK (Windows-based)

Hi guys! Today We'll be talking about one of the powerful and useful features of Windows, PARTITION.

Today I'll explain and walk you through

  • what partitioning is
  • why you should partition your disk/drive
  • how you can partition your disk/drive with an inbuilt Windows tool, NO THIRD PARTY APPLICATION is required.

What's Partition/Partitioning?

It's an act or result of dividing into parts (partitions); an arrangement of partitions.

More explicitly, it involves diving your computer's hard disk or drive into two or more unique parts (more like dividing an office space for two individuals, clear?)

Disk partitioning is also called Disk slicing.

Click here to read more.

Why partition?

As explained above, Partitions enable users to divide a physical disk into logical sections. So, partitioning your disk comes with a lot of merits (over demerits).

Below are a few;

1. Allowing multiple operating systems to run on the same device (Linux, Windows...) or multiple versions of an OS (say, Windows 7, 8, 10, 11) on the same device.

2. Speed: Keeping your Windows system files separate from personal files makes it easy to perform operations on Windows itself.

3. Reinstallation Ease: It's a lot easier to reinstall Windows when it's on a separate partition. All you have to do is format your Windows partition and reinstall the OS. Your installed programs and files will stay where you left them.

4. Multiple files systems: If you own a Windows-based PC and a Mac-based PC but you've got only one drive (most likely, external), you could partition your drive into two parts; one in NFTS (file system) - which is readable and writable for Windows and the other as APFS - which is compatible with Mac OS (FAT32 and exFAT are compatible for both Windows and Mac OS).

5. Other benefits include simpler backups and improved security among others.

Click here to read more on merits

HOW TO PARTITION YOUR DRIVE

1. Open Disk Management  - you could search "Disk Manager" in the search bar and select “create and format hard disk partitions”

2 Hopefully you would have no partitions yet (unlike the image below, SAFE is a partition). Find your C drive and left-click on it then, select “Shrink Volume”

 3. On the next page, some space will be allocated for the NEW VOLUME/PARTITION however, you could enter your desired amount of space for the partition to be made, I created 199MB (or 200MB if you will) for this tutorial.

4. After the window closes, find the volume labeled “Unallocated”, left-click on and select “New Simple Volume”

5. "New Volume Wizard" opens up to guide you through the process

6. On the page shown above; it is advisable to select “format the volume….”, select “Perform a quick format”, Choose an appropriate File system and Label the volume (though you could rename the volume after the process)

HOW TO SAVE WHATSAPP STATUS

 Hello guys! I'm sure some of you (at least the ones who check my blog out) would be surprised and excited to read this blog post. Yeah, I've decided to write after a very a long while!

Without further ado, let's jump into today's article- I'll be explaining HOW TO SAVE VIDEOS ON WHATSAPP STATUS. I know it's not a huge stuff but I've been getting this question repeatedly plus,  a friend asked again today, so I felt like "lemme kill two birds (perhaps more) with a stone - LOL.

You can stop that embarrassing words like “I like this video, please share or send it to me, or share or send this Video to me on whatsapp”

I should say this firstly, every images/videos viewed on WhatsApp Status are downloaded to a hidden folder; WhatsApp > Media > Statuses...... but are erased automatically after 24 hours.

There are several ways of doing this, but I will be sharing my best three (3) so far!

Grab a snack and relax while you read through! - my tip

FILE EXPLORER/BROWSER/MANAGER

This is my #1 as it's so easy and doesn't require any additional application unless your android device doesn't have any File Explorer or Manager installed.

Okay! Someone might say "What does he mean by File Explorer/Browser/Manager"

Well, it's just an application (mostly, will be one of your device system applications) that allows you to browse/access/manage files and folders on your device.

Click here to read more about File Explorer/Manager/Browser.

I realized I've posted this here (on this blog), so click here to read that post!

I'm just you'll be glad you did.

MX Player

My #2 is to use MX Player, It's my Number one Video Player- it's a great app.

After viewing the status (video), follow the steps below;

  • Launch MX Player (I'll advice you  to download the newer versions, if not the latest version)
  •  You should see a horizontal tab with "Save WhatsApp Status"
  • Click on it
  • You should see recently viewed status (videos)
  • Click on the download button on the top right of each videos to save as many you would love to.

MX Player

VIDMATE

This app is another on my Best Apps List. It's a great tool to have in one's arsenal.

After viewing the status below are the steps to follow using Vidmate;

  • Launch Vidmate
  • On the "featured" tab on the homepage
  • Select WhatsApp
  • Recently viewed status (images/videos) should appear
  • Select as many that you'd want to keep
  • Then, click on the "save" button at the top right corner of the page.

Vidmate

I shared three tested and trusted ways, I'm sure there more out there, like I know you can use Xender to achieve the same.

Are there others ways you save WhatsApp Status you'd like to share? Please, use the comment section below!

Also, don't forget to share- you might be saving a soul!

Peace!

WhatsApp Gets Fingerprint Lock Feature On Android

WhatsApp on Thursday announced the launch of Fingerprint Lock for Android. With the move, the Facebook-owned company is finally bringing biometric authentication to the Android app, with iPhone users enjoying both Touch ID (fingerprint recognition) and Face ID (facial recognition) since February this year. With the feature, Android users can now have the app lock automatically, and unlock only with their fingerprint. The move comes at a time WhatsApp is making headlines thanks to a recent hack, and its fallout including a lawsuit against spyware-maker NSO Group alleged to have made the hack possible.

Just like the Touch ID feature enabled for iPhone users, WhatsApp for Android users can now choose to lock the app with their fingerprints as authentication to unlock it thereafter. Users can also choose how much time the app will automatically lock in, from immediately after closing, to after 1 minute, and after 30 minutes. Users will also be able to choose whether the content of their messages will be visible in notifications, including the sender of the message.
